Look for the ground or an object in the open. Right-click on it and Sit Here. It can take a few seconds and you may hear some bumping noises, but your avatar should magically fly out of there soon enough. If that doesn't work, then try teleporting somewhere else.
1. find the Item in your "Objects" Folder in your Inventory
2. select the Item, and drag it to the floor near where you are standing
3. right click on the item, a menu box will appear on your screen, choose “open”
4. a list of al items contained in the box will appear, choose “copy to inventory”

How do I find out what I'm wearing?
Go to Edit menu > Detach object and look at the list.
or press the Inventory button at the bottom of your screen if your inventory isn't already open. See that white box near the top saying "Search"? Click there and type in "(worn". Everything you're wearing, body parts, clothing, and attachments, will show up in bold with "(worn" next to ist name.
I put on hair and can´t take it off!
Is it prim hair (hair made out of primitive shapes, not a body part)? Test by right-clicking on it and seeing if you can Detach. If not, just remember: you can't take off any body part (shape, skin, hair eyes). You must replace one with another. To do that, just find another hair item in your inventory and double-click on it. Or, if you right-click on yourself and select Appearance and go further, you may be able to adjust the sliders to your liking.
Go to Edit menu > Preferences > Network and move the Maximum Bandwidth slider further to the right. The number is measured in "kilobits per second", and if you aren't sure what this means, you should check with your Internet Service Provider for more details. On a great connection, you can set it to 1000 and if your packet loss bar doesn't go red constantly, it should be OK.
sl runs weak, inventory and apperance problems - clear cache
go to edit menu > preferences > network and press the Clear Cache button to refresh your cache. Relog and see if your problems are gone. If not try to restart your computer.
set disk cache location
be sure your harddisk offers enough space for sl to work. otherwise set new disk cache location in the network tab.
send objects to a friend or any resident
You can send items to any resident in SL -
view their profile first. once a profile is open, notice where it says "drop inventory item here" at the bottom.
click-and-drag an item from your inventory to their profile. You should see the cursor change to an arrow with a plus. Let go of the mouse button when you're ready. You can also do this with a resident who's not online.
If this doesn't work, the item you're trying to send may be "(no transfer)". Look next to its name to be sure.

Just press ctrl + alt + D, two new menu's appear in the upper part of the screen.
Press Client > Character > Character Tests and remove the tick in front of "Go Away/AFK When Idle”
If you disable that option, you will not get logged out after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Another way is to go to Edit menu > Preferences > adv. graphics. lower that gamma number, press Apply, and it'll be brighter.
your title is part of the group you belong to and have active. If you are an officer of the group, you can control what title your Officers and Members use. If you're not officer of a group, and can persuade two friends to help you get a custom title, you can create your own group.
changing group titles
1. Right-click your avatar and select Groups.
2. Click on the group with the title you wish to use.
3. Click Activate.
Create your own and bring your friends into it! Group creation costs L$100. Any group that has less than 2 people for 48 hours will be disbanded.

3. In the General tab, enter the name of the group, and the charter. The charter is a general listing of what the group is for and what the group does.
4. In the Titles tab, create the unique titles. Officers get one title, while Members get another. You can also drag a texture onto the Insignia box that will be displayed in the group's profile.
5. In the Invite tab, enter the names of any residents you wish to invite as Officers or Members. You can also enable Open enrollment (anyone can join without an invitation), as well as creating a Signup Fee that residents must pay to join the group.

If you started dancing after clicking a dance machine, clicking it again should stop. If that doesn't work, fly or teleport far away and relog. If you have animation windows open, closing them will stop those dances.
You can relog, or right-click on yourself, select Appearance, do NOT save anything, and click Close. You should be back to normal.
first, return to where you were and quickly right-click on the ground or an object and Sit Here. This makes you invincible to being pushed. If you continue to get shot, check Help menu > Bumps, Pushes & Hits and see if any names come up. If you know who it is, try asking them to stop, and if they don't, you can file an abuse report. a bomb or other type of scripted object has disrupted your Second Life. Especially in a crowd, it's likely when you go to Help menu > Bumps, Pushes & Hits, the same name will show up for many people. Please use Help menu > Report Abuse and include sufficient details of what happened. Don't worry, there's no permanent damage to your avatar, and this happens rarely, but it's good to be prepared!
If you are stucked in a place and can´t teleport out, walk or fly out of the sim. try teleport from another sim. if that do not work try a relog.
second life puts downloaded data in something, think of it as a storage box for quicker loading, called a cache. a good idea to try when having general problems is go to Edit menu > Preferences > Network and press the Clear Cache button. Relog (quit and start SL again) or even restart your computer. If that didn't solve it, good night!
go to the View menu > Muted Residents, click Mute resident, and enter their name. Click Find, click on Select, and they'll appear in the list and you won't hear from them. Also, if they continue to track you, are they on your Friends list? If so, press the Friends button at the bottom of the screen, click their name and remove. If trouble continues, you know what to do! File an abuse report from the Help menu and include sufficient details. It will be investigated and your identity is kept anonymous.
